PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the heights of fluctuating liquid levels at multiple timings during a fluctuation cycle in a short time in a fluctuating-liquid level height measuring device properly used for measuring the heights of the fluctuating liquid levels periodically changed in height such as the ink level in the nozzle of the piezoelectric head of an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: The height of a microscope 13 is fixed, a flash light source 23 is controlled, the flash light is generated at multiple timings during one fluctuation cycle of the ink level, and the intensity of the reflected light is measured by a CCD camera 20 at each timing. The microscope 13 is moved to multiple heights to conduct this process, the height of the microscope 13 is checked for the maximum intensity of the reflected light at each timing, and the heights of fluctuating liquid levels at multiple timings during the fluctuation cycle are measured. |
