PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting coil quench detector which can accurately detect a small voltage generated by a quench of a superconducting coil. SOLUTION: This equipment is provided with a first and a second voltage measuring amplifier 8a, 8b and a subtracter 9. To the first and the second voltage measuring amplifier 8a, 8b, a first and a second coil 7a, 7b are series connected. Voltage is intermittently applied to these coils 7a, 7b by a chopper circuit to excite the coils. While no voltage is applied to the coils, circulating current is allowed to flow in the coils by a circulating diode 4. The first and the second voltage measuring amplifier 8a, 8b measure the voltages across the coils 7a, 7b respectively. A difference between the voltages measured by the voltage measuring amplifiers 8a, 8b is found by a subtracter 9. This equipment is also provided with a counter 10 which detects the appearance of a quench in the coils 7a, 7b from the output of the subtracter 9 and with a signal generator 11. A first and a second voltage waveform generator 12a, 12b send out the voltages of the coils 7a, 7b to the voltage measuring amplifiers 8a, 8b after eliminating a part which is the same as or higher than a specified set value. |
