PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an inexpensive twisted orientation phase difference plate excellent in productivity by which thickness of a film can be easily controlled. SOLUTION: (a) A soln. prepared by uniformly dissolving a nonliquid crystal polymer and a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer which can be oriented in a twisted nematic state in a solvent, or (b) a soln. prepared by uniformly dissolving a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer which can be oriented in a nematic state, a chiral agent and a nonliquid crystal polymer in a solvent is uniformly applied on a smooth surface and the solvent is dried. After the solvent is dried, the liquid crystal is oriented in a twisted nematic state by heat treatment at temp. higher than the temp. the liquid crystal polymer develops the liquid crystal phase. |
