An automatic flash with a built-in exposure meter is disclosed. The automatic flash comprises a central processing unit(41) for controlling an entire of system; a power supplier(42) for supplying the power to the system; a charging unit(43) for temporarily charging an electricity according to a control signal from the central processing unit(41); a light emitting unit(44) for instantaneously emitting the light using the electricity charged at the charging unit(43); an external data inputting unit(45) for inputting a key signal to the central processing unit(41); a light receiving unit(46) for receiving the light from the object; a switch(SW) for switching the signal from the light receiving unit(46); and an exposure measuring unit(47) for processing the output signal from the light receiving unit(46) to provide it to the central processing unit(41).
