Production of precisely dimensioned, controllable optical density sunroof from transparent glass and plastic

This method produces a sunroof for vehicles, a skylight or similar. The outer sheet (10) is toughened safety glass, the inner (16) is plastic. The latter is preformed as required and later joined to the glass to produce a composite sheet. The novel method comprises: (a) forming the outer safety glass sheet to the required curvature, (b) bringing the plastic sheet to the required curvature with approximately corresponding shape, (c) pressing the inner side of the plastic sheet (16) against the outer (10), curved glass sheet, to match the contour precisely, and (d) finally, joining the two together.
