A floor covering, esp. for public buildings, has a shell type carrying arrangement. The latter consists of a thin cement plate (1) and a base section which consists of a light steel arrangement with cutouts (2) and a shell network support (3), which is located in the cut outs. The covering pref. has corrosion, sound and fire resistant characteristics.
