摘要 The method provides pure optical conversion of the carrier wavelength of an optical transmission data signal with a first wavelength. The signal is transmitted by a semiconductor optical waveguide using a constant light signal with a second wavelength. The waveguide has a band gap near and above the wavelength (lambda2) of the constant light signal (D2) used and the wavelength (lambda1) of the data signal (D1). Both light signals fed to the waveguide, together, have such an intensity that with a higher data signal power, the waveguide is at least nearly saturated and absorption is imperceptible. With a lower data signal power, the absorption is higher. Thus, the carrier density in the waveguide (HLW) is modulated by the data signal (D1). The variation in carrier density causes an increase in the transmissibility for the constant light (D2) at higher data signal power, and a decrease at lower data signal power.
