The system transmits an event and/or condition message from a transmitter to a receiver and includes a converter (2) that is integrated in the transmission path (8). The converter and the receiver are connected with each other over at least one additional secondary, preferably wireless, transmission path (10). The transmission path is controlled by the converter. The availability of the transmission path is monitored, and an identifying signal is provided at the transmission of an event and/or condition message. The converter includes at least two processor units (13,14) which mutually supervise their functionality.
