Travelling cleaner for ring frame with bobbin conveyor

Dust and/or loose threads are removed by a travelling blower (10) from at least one multi-position spinning machine fitted with automatic transport (20) for bobbins (6). Air is blown at the lower part (10) of the machine only when the transport device (20) does not carry bobbins (6). The jets (11, 12) of the travelling blower (7) are divided into an upper and lower region and the lower jets (12) are only activated where the transporter (20) is bare. Preferably, during the doffing cycle, part of the conveyor (20) is free of bobbins so that the cleaning air velocity can be increased without danger of surface damage on the full packages. The lower jets (12), optionally also any associated floor suction nozzles, are fitted with separate flap valves controlled by mechanical or optical sensors which recognise the empty sections of the conveyor (20). The blowing air is turned on or the blowing velocity is increased over that section of the conveyor. The two sides of the travelling cleaner are controlled independently.
