摘要
1,122,822. Valves; fluid pressure brakes. GIRLING Ltd. 28 Feb., 1966 [5 March, 1965], No. 9377/65. Headings F2F and F2V. [Also in Division G3] A vacuum-operated servomotor for a vehicle braking system comprises a motor 10 controlled by a valve assembly in response to movements of an input member 44. The valve assembly comprises two coaxial seats 32, 36 and a single valve member 50 consisting of two parts 52, 56 for co-operation with the seats. The parts 52, 56 are connected by a press fit connection which allows relative rocking motion to allow for non-parallel seats. As shown, the part 52 has a stud 53 and the part 56 has a central dimple 58 which is pressed over the stud. With the rod 44 retracted, the valve 52, 32 is closed and the valve 56, 36 open, thus allowing the vacuum to act on both sides of diaphragm 16. When the rod 44 is pushed inwardly, a sleeve 26 is moved and the valve 56, 36 closed, after which further movement of the sleeve 26 opens the valve 52, 32 to allow atmospheric air to enter the chamber 20 to move the diaphragm to the left. A backing plate 70 tilts about a pivot 72 to act on the sleeve 26 to provide " feel." A modified closure member, Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises a first valve part (108) covered by a resilient member (110) and having a fluted spindle (114) with a head (116) which is press fitted into a recess (120) of a second valve part (130). The servomotor may be used as an hydraulic booster by a suitable modification of the input member 44.
