Timing control marking for IC piston engine

The IC engine has solenoid controlled valves. The automatic calibration control sets the valve closed points for the cylinders to a first optimum point w.r.t. the engine timing mark. With the engine running the timing control alters the timing on one cylinder until best timing condition is reached for that cylinder. The difference between the engine timing mark and the best possible timing mark is calculated and is used to correct the timing for all the cylinders. Optimum timing is determined by the maximum inlet flow into each cylinder and with optimum low emission products as determined by a lambda sensor.
