Tariff rate determining method especially for communication path in telecommunication network

The method involves determining a usage type of a connection through analysis of the network access of the connection, and performing the billing of connections according to the determined usage type. A multimedia usage of the connection is determined as usage type, if the network access of the connection is determined as access to a multimedia service (SERV). A usage is recognized as a data transmission usage type if the network access of the connection is determined as an access to a data network (KN2, KN3). Different rates are preferably associated to the various usage types, and the billing is performed according to the usage type and the corresponding rate.
