The pump has a housing (1) with a cooling water intake (5), a drive shaft (3), and a rotor (11) fastened to one end of the shaft. The rotor consists of a main element (12) and blades (13), which are located radially and project from an end face of the main element. Each blade has an intake area (14) facing the housing intake, and an inner end (14a). The inner blade end is at right angles to the cooling water flow from the intake to the inner circumference of each blade. Each intake area has a circular arc with an angle, which corresponds mainly to an intake angle of the cooling water.
