The monitoring system has a current supply circuit for the user and a connected voltage source. A fuse holder with a fuse as the overload protection of the user is connected before the user in the supply cable. At each side of the holder a first connection is provided for connecting with the cable, with the interposing fuse (52). A second connection (62) is provided directly connected respectively at each side of the fuse holder with the respective end of the fuse. A measuring circuit (70) is provided, connected between the second connections (62). The measuring circuit sense the voltage drop over the fuse protection (52) working as a shunt resistance, proportional to the current consumption of the user (21), and transmits an electrical signal, indicating the current consumption. The current consumption signal of the electrical user is indicated by an indicating instrument.
