The invention concerns a method of manufacturing a cellulose product, in particular cellulose fibres, a cellulose-containing material being placed in an aqueous solution of a tertiary-amine oyide and brought into suspension, and water being removed from the suspension, while stirring vigorously and maintaining the suspension at an elevated temperature and reduced pressure, until a solution of cellulose is formed. The solution is then passed through a shaping device, in particular a spinneret, and into a regenerating bath to precipitate the dissolved cellulose. The method is characterized in that the cellulose-containing material in the suspension used to produce the cellulose solution is exposed to an electron beam.
