Process for the continuous distillation of zinc from zinc scrap materials

In a process for recovering zinc from scrap materials a high velocity film of the molten impure zinc is projected on to the face of a refractory distillation tube, the zinc vapour then being condensed by a curtain of molten pure zinc. The molten impure zinc is preferably kept in an equilibrium system with its vapour to allow volatile impurities to distil off. The apparatus disclosed in Fig. 1 (not shown) includes a rotating impeller (25) to impart the kinetic energy to the film of impure zinc, a distillation tube (29) and a molten pure zinc supplying means above the Venturi (40) for condensing the vapour.
