摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high damping cast iron having high damping characteristic in the state of an as-cast material and having both wear resistance and high strength by particularly coarsening the graphitic structure of a cast iron and regulating the area ratio of the metallic structure of martensitic structure or bainitic structure to a specific value or above. SOLUTION: A cast iron material, having a composition consisting of, by weight, 3.0-4.5% C, 0.5-5.0% Si, 0.3-3.0% Mn, 6.0-18% Ni, <=2% Mo, <=1% Cu, and the balance Fe, is melted and cast into the prescribed shape. The resultant cast material is tempered at 250-450 deg.C or 550-650 deg.C. By this method, the desired cast iron, is which flake graphite of >=250μmaximum length is precipitated in the metallic structure and the area ratio of the metallic structure of at least either of martensitic structure and bainitic structure is regulated to >=30%, can be obtained.
