PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a D-amino acid which is useful for medicines and pigments and optical resolution by allowing a microorganism capable of asymmetrically decomposing the optically active L-isomer in a racemic body, to act on a specific racemic amino acid and separating and collecting the remaining optically active D-isomer. SOLUTION: The culture mixture or its treated product of a microorganism capable of asymmetrically decomposing the optically active L-isomer in a racemic body of such as racemic valine, racemic leucine, and racemic isoleucine, for example, Proteus vulgaris RIMD KS (IAM12003), is allowed to act on racemic amino acid consiting of these compound, or the microorganism is cultured in a culture medium containing these racemic amino acids. Then, the optically active D-isomer remaining the reaction system is separated and collected to industrially and inexpensively produce the objective D-amino acid which is useful as a raw material for medicines such as antibiotics, a synthetic intermediate or a reagent for optical resolution. |
