PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material capable of preventing the occurrence of frictional wear or damage such as chipping and having superior nonlubricating sliding characteristic by constituting the material of specific proportions of respective powders of Ni-free stainless metal, titanium carbide, titanium nitride, and molybdenum carbide. SOLUTION: A powder mixture, which consists of 5-40wt.% of Ni-free stainless metal powder and the balance consisting of titanium carbide powder, titanium nitride powder, and molybdenum carbide powder and in which the proportion of the molybdenum carbide powder to the total amount of the titanium carbide powder and the titanium nitride powder is regulated to 5-15wt.% and also the proportion between the titanium carbide powder and the titanium nitride powder is regulated so that x=0.3 to 0.7 is satisfied, expressed in terms of the composition of titanium carbonitride, TiCx N1-x , is prepared. This powder mixture is compacted and heat-treated. By this method, the desired carbonitride metal composite material can be obtained. |
