The function displaying apparatus of a video camera is provided by the construction that outputs(clk, data, stb) of a micro computer(1) connected with a writing start/stop switch(sw1), for receiving key scanning signals, are connected to a character generator(2), that an output of the character generator(2) is connected to a character mixer(3) receiving image signals(vi), and that an output of the character mixer(3) passes through an amplifier(4) and is connected to a cathode-ray tube(CRT)(5) for a view finder, wherein the function displaying apparatus of the video camera is also provided by memorizing the programs having a first step of checking whether the writing start/stop switch(sw1) is scanned within the micro computer(1), re-checking it if not scanned, or generating a writing start signal if the switch(sw1) was scanned; a second step of clarifying whether another key is scanned, and if another key was scanned, outputting character data of a corresponding key, supplying a strobe signal(stb) to the character generator(2), and then checking whether the writing start/stop switch(sw1) is scanned; a third step of generating an operational signal of a key scanned in the second step if the writing start/stop switch(sw1) was not scanned in the second step and returning to the second step; and a fourth step of returning to the second step if another key and the writing start/stop switch(sw1) were not scanned, and outputting a writing temporary stop signal if the writing start/stop(sw1) was scanned.
