摘要 The method involves casting the first half hollow camshaft (1) and the second half hollow camshaft (2) each incorporating a recess emerging at least at one end, called the tubular end (1b,2b). The two half camshafts (1,2) are then assembled between their respective tubular ends (1b,2b). The camshaft manufacturing method involves assembling the two camshaft halves by friction welding using the following steps:- (a) shot blasting and turning the two halves of the hollow camshaft; (b) positioning the two halves of the camshaft in the jaws of a friction welding machine; (c) dressing the tubular ends of the camshaft; (d) putting the friction welding machine into operation to weld the two halves; (e) eliminating the resulting weld burr; and (f) inspecting the shaft of the camshaft thus obtained and possibly rectifying any errors.
