The fixing process of a fire retardant panel of several layers (7-9) onto a wall involves the panel being applied by its first bed (7) against the wall support. Several holes (10) are pierced through the panel and aligned with a blind hole in the wall (5). A pin (1,2) of a length greater than the hole is inserted. By hammering its head (17), the other end (3) of the pin bottoms (4) in the blind hole (5). Its length is then reduced to that of the hole by the deformation outwards of an intermediary portion (16) of the pin. This part of the pin (1,2) is in partial contact with the first bed (7) so that it is held firmly against the support wall.
