A plate array (1) for a heat exchanger, of the type comprising a stack of parallel metallic heat exchange plates (2), with smooth surface marginal portions (2a, 2b) and a corrugated central portion (2c) so as to form, with the associated plates (2), a dual circuit system for two independent counter-current circulating fluids. Each heat exchange plate (2) is provided, at the longitudinal edges thereof, with a means (10) for coupling it with adjacent plates (2), at the end edges thereof with a means (20) for coupling it with an adjacent plate to form alternating superposed closed ends (3) and open ends (4), and, at the corners thereof, with a means (30) for connecting the heat exchange plates (2) and the coupling members (10, 20) to each other.
