A walking lawnmower comprising a transmission (8) adapted to interlock with an engine and supported rearwardly of a cutter housing (H), and a rear roller (R) supported below the transmission in such a manner as to be adjusted vertically, the rear roller (R) being connected to the transmission (8) via a transmission mechanism (34), whereby the cutter housing is made smaller in size and lighter in weight, the lawnmower is capable of making a small sharp turn so as to expand its working area, and the pushing-up operation of the cutter housing by a handle is made easy.
