A nitrogen monoxide synthetase inhibitor which contains as the active ingredient 2-aminopyridines or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. It has been found out that 2-aminopyridines and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof have potent effects of inhibiting nitrogen monoxide synthetase. Namely, it has been found out that a medicinal composition containing 2-aminopyridines and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof is useful as a nitrogen monoxide formation inhibitor.
