<p>A coupling device (7) interposed between right and left wheels (5L, 5R) of a vehicle. The device can perform a start assisting control, a turning control for improving the turning performance by positively generating a differential rotation between the left and right wheels and a differential limit control for limiting the differential rotation between the left and right wheels. There are provided a differential gear (8) having a first rotating element (8a) and second and third rotating elements (8b, 8c), one of the second and third rotating elements reversely rotating relative to the first rotating element while the other rotating forwardly and a driving source (9) coupled to the first rotating element (8a). One of the second and third rotating elements, for instance, the third rotating element (8c) is coupled to one (5R) of the rear wheels via a first transmission system (10), and the second rotating element (8b) is coupled to the other wheel (5L) via second and third transmission systems (11, 12) that are selectively operated via a switching means (13). The gear ratios of both first and second transmission systems (10, 11) are set equal, while the gear ratio of the third transmission system (12) is set such that the direction thereof is opposite to those of the first and second gear ratios while the absolute value thereof becomes equal to those of the first and second gear ratios.</p> |
