A solid golf ball having good controllability and long flight distance and having a solid core, a cover covering the core and dimples formed on the surface of the cover, wherein the cover has a Shore D hardness of 52 to 64 and the dimples satisfy the following equation:(Dimple area proportion (%))x(Total dimple volume (mm3)) DIVIDED 100=220 to 270.
