<p>A software bridge (300) is introduced between a client (53) and a server (54) in a client-server distributed computing environment. The bridge (300) presents the interface of a server (54) to a client (53) and the interface of a client (53) to a server (54). The bridge (300) is used for monitoring or logging of requests and associated data flowing between the client (53) and the server (54), useful for example in problem determination. The bridge (300) is also used for workload balancing between servers (54). It can further be used to reduce network connectivity between clients (53) and servers (54). All of these advantages can be achieved without any modifications to existing client (53) or server (54) code.</p> |
