The method of printing is implemented using a matrix provided with a plurality of groups of nozzles bearing different designations arranged in mutually intersecting parallel rows. The information carrier is secured stationary in relation to the matrix and the printing ink is fed simultaneously to the nozzles of each group chosen for printing. An ink-jet printing head has a multilayer structure with a number of additional layers (20-25) of a substrate (10) depending on the number of print columns, the nozzles (BK, Y, R, B) being split into groups of neighbouring nozzles with the same number of nozzles in each group. The inlet openings of all nozzles bearing the same designation are located in one additional layer of the substrate, and feed channels (26-29) are located in each additional layer (22-25) of the substrate and intersect with openings (11-14) located in that layer and serving as nozzles.
