A drive device has an internal combustion engine (A1) mainly for stationary operation on a transiently operated machine (A2) which act by way of a first (1) and a second drive shaft (2) on the output shaft (3) of a planetary gearing (P). In order to obtain independent speed and torque values on the drive shaft, an additional transiently operated machine (A3) is provided, which has a fixed speed ratio with the first drive shaft (1) or with the output shaft (3) of the planetary gearing (P). The two transiently operated machines (A2, A3) are hydraulic or electrical machines, connected to a control device (R), a unit (E) which has an energy storage device (S) being provided for a flow of hydraulic or electrical power between the two transiently operated machines (A2, A3).
