The profiled guide strip (8) has a C-shaped slot along the inside edge and open to the inside edge. It is bent to fit inside the roof opening and its butting ends are joined at either the front or rear side of the frame. The profiled slot runs round all four sides and around the curved corners. Slider profiles (15) are fitted into the slot before closing the frame. These support the sliding roof. A rigid roof panel or a folding roof can be supported by the sliders. The profiled strip has an upper flange (9) which is supported on the roof edge via an elastic seal (10). the strip frame is clamped in position by sprung grips (12) fitted to the underside of the strip and pressing under the roof. A lower, inwards facing flange (17) supports the inner roof trim.
