Cationically-hardening, flexible epoxy resin materials (I) contain (A) 5-95 pts. wt. of a cpd. with cycloaliphatic epoxide gp(s)., (B) 5-70 pts. wt. polyol(s) with a mol. wt. of 200-8000 and an OH equiv. wt. of 60-5000, comprising partly epoxidised polybutadiene-polyols, polycarbonate-polyols, polyester-polyols and polyether-polyols, (C) 0.01-10 pts. wt. onium cpd(s). with a complex anion with the same or lower nucleophilicity than that of the SbF6 anion, (D) 0.001-1 pt. wt. ferrocenium cpd. with a complex anion with nucleophilicity as for (C), (E) 0.001-5 pts. wt. retarder(s) of formula Z-S-Q, in which Z = alkyl, aryl, alkaryl, ammonium or monovalent cation; Q = H, CN, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl; and Z may be bridged with Q; (F) 0-2 pts. wt. cpds. of formula (II), in which Ra, Rb = H, alkyl, alkaryl, beta -hydroxyalkyl or beta -hydroxyalkylcarbonate ester; Rc = H, alkyl, alkoxy or alkoxycarbonyl; and z = 0, 1, 2 or 3; and (G) 0-60 pts. wt. fillers, pigments, stabilisers, complexing agents, radical initiators, (meth)acrylate gp.-contg. cpd(s)., thixotropic agents and/or high-polymer thickeners. The anion in (C) is the same as the anion in (D) or has a lower nucleophilicity than that in (D).
