Process and production of finely divided catalyst layers on the pore-free surfaces of hydrogen-absorbing metallic bodies

A finely divided catalyst layer of e.g. Pt, Pd or Pt-Ag or Pd-Pb mixtures is deposited on a metal, e.g. Pd-Ag sheet or tube, from a solution of e.g. palladium nitrate or hydrochloro-platinic acid with lead acetate, whilst the metal substrate is loaded with hydrogen which may be provided electrolytically or fed under pressure. Adsorbed hydrogen is subsequently removed by vacuum.
