PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically control recording by utilizing EDS signals. SOLUTION: An EDS signal is extracted from a received TV signal by an EDS signal extracting section 3 to be inputted into a microcomputer 4. The microcomputer decodes the program sequence related time information(TIS) included in this EDS signal to compare the present TIS and the past one and to control picture recording using a mechanical operation section 6.
