PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the indirect isomerization of a viscosity decreasing material to be mixed with a liquid crystal material and to suppress the delay of response time by using materials, such as liquid crystal materials and oriented film materials, which exert interaction with the viscosity decreasing material and of which the optical absorption bands do not exist in the short wavelength region of visible light, etc. SOLUTION: A liquid prepd. by dissolving a transparent polyimide resin of which the optical absorption band does not exist in the short wavelength region and near UV light region of visible light into a solvent is applied on electrodes 11 and is then cured by drying, by which an oriented film 13 is formed. Further, the liquid crystal molecules of the base liquid crystals 12 are oriented in a prescribed direction by executing the rubbing treatment. Materials which have optically high transmission in the visible region and the near UV region are used as at least one of the materials, sealing resins and liquid crystal materials constituting the oriented film 13. The presence of the optical absorption band of the oriented film 13 interacting with the viscosity decreasing agent 15 by coming into contact therewith in the short wavelength region and near UV light region of visible light is thereby prevented and, therefore, the isomerization does not arise as the energy to induce the isomerization of the viscosity decreasing agent is not supplied. |
