PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hydrophobic silica exhibiting excellent thickening properties and not damaging transparency by adding it to a nonpolar organic solvent. SOLUTION: This hydrophobia silica is obtained by making an alkylsilane exist in an amount of 3×10<-5> to 6×10<-5> g/m<2> calculated as carbon per unit surface area on the surface of a silica by a dry method and is adjusted to preferably 0.7-30wt.% suspension amount to water.
