PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a disperse dye ink for ink jet which has improved clogging resistance, storage stability, etc., by incorporating a disperse dye and a specific naphthalene-based dispersant into the ink. SOLUTION: This ink (e.g. an ink for ink jet printing) is obtd. by thoroughly mixing a mixture comprising a disperse dye (e.g. C.I. Disperse Yellow 3) and a medium (e.g. a mixture of water and diethylene glycol) with a dispersant represented by the formula (wherein (n) is 4-20; and M is Li, Na, K, or NH4 ) in an amt. of 50-200wt.% of the dye by using a high-pressure homogenizer, etc. A hydrophobic fabric (e.g. a polyester fabric) is printed with the ink using an ink jet printer, dried, and thermally treated to develop the color of the ink. If necessary a surfactant, a viscosity modifier, etc., are added to the ink. |
