The present invention is to provide a method for appointing a recipient at transmission through facsimile. The method for appointing a recipient according to the present invention comprises the steps of: transmitting document, wherein said step of transmitting comprises the steps of setting document to be transmitted on the facsimile, inputting a number of a destination facsimile, appointing the recipient of the document, and transmitting the document by pushing a start button of the facsimile; and receiving document, wherein said step of receiving comprises the steps of determining whether received data is a recipient appointing mode or not, by checking a function button transmitted from a sending part, receiving the document transmitted from the sending part, announcing completion of receiving the document in voice by automatically calling a calling number of the recipient when completing receiving the document, if the document is the recipient appointing mode. Thereby, the recipient can automatically be notified when the document has been received.
