PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording apparatus wherein a carriage is automatically returned to a predetermined standby position after an ink cartridge is replaced. SOLUTION: When a cover is opened in order to replace an ink jet cartridge 5, the opening of the cover is detected and the ink jet cartridge 5 present at a recording standby position L is moved to a cartridge replacing position M accompanied by the movement of a carriage. By this constitution, an operator can easily replace the ink jet cartridge 5. |
