PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power unit for automobile which can prevent a fuse from blowing at a low cost without requiring any space for installing a battery when an overload is used. SOLUTION: A DC voltage from a main battery 20 is boosted by means of a DC-DC converter 25. The boosted DC voltage is supplied to an output connector T2 after the voltage is converted into an AC voltage by means of a DC-AC converter 27. The AC power supplied to the connector T2 is supplied to the plug socket 16 of an outlet 15. The DC voltage from the battery 20 is supplied to another output connector T3 through a current detecting circuit 24. The DC voltage supplied to the connector T3 is supplied to a first socket 13 and the second socket 17 of the outlet 15. The current detecting circuit 24 detects the electric current flowing to the converter 25 and connector T3. When an overcurrent flows to the converter 25, an overcurrent protective circuit 31 stops the operation of the converter 25.
