PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing color filters capable of preventing the off-specification products from being produced by suppressing the variation in the impact positions of ink. SOLUTION: This process comprises producing color filters by discharging ink toward a substrate 1 by ink jet heads 120a to 120c and coloring the respective pixels of the color filters. The process includes a detecting stage for detecting the ruggedness of the surface of the substrate 1, an adjusting stage for adjusting the positions of the ink jet heads 120a to 120c in such a manner that the ink lands at the center of the pixels in the intermediate positions C between the highest point A and lowest point B of the ruggedness detected by the detecting stage and a coloring stage for coloring the respective pixels by discharging the ink from the ink jet heads in the positions adjusted in the adjusting stage.
