PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a navigation system in which a passenger can comprehend the traffic conditions at a glance and can avoid congested roads by identifying traffic information described on a facsimile document and presenting characters, indicative of the traffic information, on a display. SOLUTION: A facsimile data containing symbol data, indicative of symbols described on a facsimile document, is received from a portable telephone T through a modem 9. The facsimile data is collated with a reference symbol data corresponding to a symbol data possibly employed in a prestored facsimile data and the content of symbol data contained in the facsimile data is extracted along with the coordinate position thereof on the facsimile image. A link corresponding to the coordinate position is then selected with reference to a symbol coordinate-link table and the content of symbol data is presented, while being related to the link thereof, on the screen of a display 8. |
