PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent operation efficiency from decreasing owing to a break of the printing process. SOLUTION: The operation efficiency can be prevented from decreasing by providing a printer engine which substitutes if the printing process is interrupted owing to trouble such as a shortage of paper, a paper jam, and a shortage of toner. For control over this printer, the function of each printer engine is acquired (step S301), the printing process is performed by specifying a printer engine, and when fault occurrence to the printer engine is detected (S306), print data which are not processed owing to the fault are acquired (S307); and it is judged (S308) whether or not there is a substitutable printer engine by referring to the function obtained in S301 and when there is the substitutable printer engine, print data matching the substituting printer engine are generated, so that the printer engine carries on the printing process (S309→S304).
