PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wear resistance of cold rolling rolls by forming very small grooves in a portion equivalent to the rolling width of the rolls at a specific inclined angle in the peripheral barrel direction of the rolls. SOLUTION: Very small grooves 2 are formed at an inclined angleθin the peripheral barrel direction of rolling rolls 1. The inclined angleθmust be 0.15 to 60 deg.. When rolling a steel strip 3 by rolling rolls 1, 1, since the rolling rolls l are subject to a rolling load by long scratch bands (projecting parts among grooves), the wear of the rolling rolls 1 is reduced. Even when the scratch bands have been worn to some extent, the long scratch bands come into contact with the steel strip 3, the grip force of the rolling rolls 1 to the steel strip 3 is securely held, and a friction factor does not decrease. The oil basin area of rolling mill lubricant becomes large, lubricity is enhanced, and the wear of the rolling rolls 1 can be suppressed. When the inclined angleθis less than 0.15 deg., the scratch bands become short, and the wear of the rolls 1 become large. When the inclined angleθexceeds 60 deg., the grip force becomes too strong, and the rolling load becomes too strong.
