PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device made up of a light projector and a light receiver, so designed that a detective mechanism is provided to detect the respective positions of the projector and receiver to enable multipoint measurement of the outer diameter of the meniscus part of an object and the status of the object to be understood accurately. SOLUTION: This device as shown in the figure, equipped with a light projector 2 to project on an object 1 rays of light wider than the outer diameter of the object and a light receiver 3 located at a position opposite to the projector 2 through the object 1 to receive rays of light not screened by the object 1, is to determine the outer diameter of the object 1 based on the rays of light received by the receiver 3. Besides, there are equipped a mechanism 4 to reciprocatingly move both the projector 2 and the receiver 3 to determine the outer diameter of the meniscus part of the object 1 along the longer direction of the object 1 and a mechanism 5 to detect the respective positions of both the projector 2 and the receiver 3 being in reciprocating motion. Thereby, the outer diameter of the meniscus part can be subjected to multipoint measurement and the position of the object can be detected accurately, thus enabling the shape of the object to be determined if the pitch of the reciprocating movement is raised. |
