[Also in Division B8] A vial for storing separately and then for mixing two medicaments comprises two containers 1, 7, a cap 4 in the neck of one container 1 and the base 8 of the other container 7 each having an eccentrically positioned hole A, B, the two containers being secured together with the cap 4 and base 8 abutting such that one container may be rotated relative to the other to bring the holes into alignment. As particularly described, the containers are of glass or a rigid plastics and the puncturable self-sealing caps 4, 10 are of rubber secured to the containers with an adhesive. The containers are held together by an annular foil 6. Solids, liquids, and gases may be stored in the vial and in particular water X may be stored with and then mixed with penicillin Y. The solvent X may be contained under increased pressure and the solute Y under decreased pressure, and various methods by which these pressures are obtained using a syringe are described.</p> |
