The cover (1) has a series of parallel strips (2) of arcuate section (3) connected by thinner sections forming hinges (4). The hinges can be moulded in one piece with the parallel strips. The arcuate sections can be shaped at their edges to extend in the direction of the hinge. One of the arcuate sections can have a tongue (16) which extends along the respective hinges. The cover can be wound around a roller (5) actuated manually or by a motor.
