An apparatus for estimating a motion vector using a cover/uncovered area is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a detector for detecting a covered area using image signals of a previous frame, a present frame and next frame; a binary image processer for processing the covered area detected at the detector to make a binary image; and a motion vector estimator for estimating a motion vector based on the present frame and the binary covered area. Since, thereby, the apparatus utilizes the covered/uncovered area, an accurate motion vector estimation is possible. |
