The invention pertains to a new type of insulation displacement connector. A disadvantage of the known connectors is that under sustained mechanical load the contact-making of such insulation displacement connections can deteriorate. The aim of the invention is to provide an especially reliable insulation displacement connection. The invention accomplishes this through a retention sleeve (2) which at the same time can serve as double insulation displacement connector, thus increasing the number of possible contact points from two to six and in the process reliably preventing the connection wire from coming out of the IDC connection.
