A hollow pile (1) is driven into the ground (2) by vibration, etc. and at the same time, material is removed from the pile interior. The material is loosened hydraulically, using a high pressure fluid jet, and is then removed by an airlift device (4). A high pressure erosion device (3) is located in the hollow pile, and sunk together with it. The airlift device follows the erosion device, by executing a telescoping movement. The erosion device has a stator (5) and a rotor (6). The rotor has a tuyere connection with at least one radial erosion jet (7) and one annular bit (8).
